East Bay Eating Disorder Clinic, Casa Serena To Open After-School Programme For Teens With Eating Anomalies

Casa Serena Eating Anomalies Programme, one of the East Bay’s most trusted eating disorder clinics release press release, will launch an after-school, intensive outpatient program for female and male teenagers, aged 14 to eighteen, in Feb, 2012. The programme is designed specially for kids subjected to anorexia, bulimia and splurge eating afflictions, and will most likely be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-8:30 p.m. “In the East County at this time, there are no programs for teens.

Only one inpatient setting in Oakland is available, and for people out in our area, the distance may be a barrier to getting the help they need,” announced Jackie Holmes, program founder and director of Casa Serena Eating Defects Program. “Also, we are addressing the clients who don't have to be hospitalized, but who do need further, comprehensive support to recover.” The after-school programme will serve Contra Costa and East counties, and will include nutrition education, family education, family therapy, individual treatment, DBT skills, group sessions, yoga and mindfulness coaching, expressive-arts sessions, and contract-group sessions. The program is meant to defend Casa Serena’s philosophy that treatment and recovery are best achieved when the family is properly educated and encouraged to actively participate in supporting the child health.
