Casa Serena Eating Anomalies Programme, one of the East Bay’s most trusted eating disorder clinics release press release, will launch an after-school, intensive outpatient program for female and male teenagers, aged 14 to eighteen, in Feb, 2012. The programme is designed specially for kids subjected to anorexia, bulimia and splurge eating afflictions, and will most likely be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-8:30 p.m. “In the East County at this time, there are no programs for teens.

Only one inpatient setting in Oakland is available, and for people out in our area, the distance may be a barrier to getting the help they need,” announced Jackie Holmes, program founder and director of Casa Serena Eating Defects Program. “Also, we are addressing the clients who don't have to be hospitalized, but who do need further, comprehensive support to recover.” The after-school programme will serve Contra Costa and East counties, and will include nutrition education, family education, family therapy, individual treatment, DBT skills, group sessions, yoga and mindfulness coaching, expressive-arts sessions, and contract-group sessions. The program is meant to defend Casa Serena’s philosophy that treatment and recovery are best achieved when the family is properly educated and encouraged to actively participate in supporting the child health. East Bay eating disorders treatment center, Casa Serena has been supplying a well-received, 10-week summer program for kids from mid-June to mid-August. But, the center discovered that in the case of adolescent eating abnormalities, treatment can't be pigeonholed only for a summer.

Parents have been contacting Casa Serena seeking outpatient settings for their youngsters who need to start or continue treatment during the college year. Academic and social pressures cause mixed stress on teens that usually lead to eating anomalies. Teens with eating disorders need the opportunity to remain in close contact with their familial- and peer-support systems, something that out-of-the-area programs lack. For more in-depth information on the after-school program or any of Casa Serena’s services, call 925-682-8252, view the center on the internet at casaserenaedp or visit 1868 Clayton Road, Suite 123, Treaty, CA 94520. About Casa Serena Eating Aberrations Program Casa Serena, an East Bay splurge eating disorder center consists of a bunch of professionals who specialise in the treatment of eating abnormalities, with the focus on family inclusion. The center also offers intensive outpatient services each week to adult men and women. Casa Serena’s programs are covered by most insurance firms and are available on a sliding-fee scale for the uninsured.

It's an phenomenal attainment for a phenomenal organization. On Dec. 5, CARF World announced The Center for Balanced Living, a Worthington, Ohio-based non-profit hospital focusing on the handling of eating disorders, had been licensed for three years for their outpatient all-embracing services, their two Intensive Outpatient Programs for Eating Disorders (IOP) and their Partial Hospitalization Programme for Eating Defects (PHP) and other psychological well-being issues. This represents the top level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and is the result of a five-year commitment by The Center to study, develop and implement CARF standards. CARF is an independent, non-profit licensing body whose mission is to market the quality, value, and ideal outcomes of services thru a consultative approval process that is focused on enhancing the lives of the folks served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Authentication of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF International, the commissioning body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the standard of their programs and services.

“CARF is the gold standard for eminence in organizational management and delivery of behaviour health programme services,” says Cheryl Ryland, chief finance officer at The Center for Balanced Living. The three-year validation was achieved through a rigorous peer review process conducted by CARF assessors, who reviewed The Center’s services on over 1,200 standards at all levels of care offered by the organisation. Workers at The Center demonstrated to a gang of surveyors in an on-site visit Oct. Twenty-four to 26 the organization’s dedication to offering programs and services that are quantifiable, responsible and of the very best quality.

The confirmation period is from October 2011 to October 2014. “When patients and families are seeking care, CARF certification can give them some confidence in the quality of care they can expect. In the professional community, this is recognition and validation that our programs and services have met quality standards of practice,” Ryland asserts. CARF surveyors identified twenty-two strengths at The Center, including 3 areas where the organization exhibits exemplary performance, serving as nationwide models for the identified services in specialized treatment of eating disorders. The Center was found to be exemplary in the following areas :

Coaching and education opportunities offered to staff

Supply of education and activities that push the elimination of stigma around psychological well-being issues

Development of processes that adhere to research axioms and ethics where clients are concerned.

Among the strengths identified by CARF assessors were The Center’s global presence in the handling of eating abnormalities, including a presentation made by the organization’s CEO and founder Doctor. Laura Hill at the Global Academy of Eating Aberrations in Salzburg, Austria in 2010. Surveyors also cited the 2011 Lori Irving Award for Excellence in Eating Disorders Prevention and Awareness given to Hill at a ceremony in Hollywood, California by the Nation's Eating Anomalies Organisation in October.

In CARF’s listing of The Center’s strengths, surveyors noted “the persons served are the driver for the entire programme. They constantly express satisfaction with services and staff and view their experience as life-changing and literally life-saving.” As a part of the accreditation process, CARF may counsel changes to programs at an organization — The Center for Balanced Living received no recommendations for changes to their PHP program and no changes to either IOP programme or any of their outpatient services. Express services that the Center received three-year validation were :

Thorough Outpatient Treatment : Mental Health (adults)

Intensive Outpatient Treatment : Psychological Well-being (kids and teenagers)

Outpatient Treatment : Psychological Fitness (adults)

Outpatient Treatment : Psychological Well-being (youngsters and teenagers)

Partial Hospitalization : Mental Health (adults)

For detailed info on The Center for Balanced Living, come visit centerforeatingdisorders For more in-depth information on the CARF acknowledgement process, come and visit our Internet internet site news release .

There are numerous factors that become active when getting over an eating disorder. This time in your life can be very challenging. You are faced with the task of looking at lots of the options you once made and dissecting how these selections helped or hurt you. You have to begin to change your thoughts and develop new patterns of living.

On top of that, you are learning a complete new way to eat and be pleased with yourself. So that the main question is the simplest way to focus on yourself during this time of recovery. One way is to target your emotional contentment. There are many techniques to improve your emotional intelligence during a period of recovery. When battling with an eating disorder, you may not have been able to use effective coping abilities to handle some of life’s issues.

While in recovery, it is important to start talking with others about the past events that may have led up to the development of your eating disorder. Speaking with a specialist is a way to start to fix and care for yourself. An alternative way to help you emotionally pull thru your eating disorder is to take some time to yourself. Finding 1 or 2 minutes during the day to do something that you enjoy will help. Even if it is taking 1 or 2 minutes to sit outside and breath in the clean air during your break at work, or curling into bed a little early to read a book. Whatever you like doing that gives you time to yourself will help in your recovery. A support group can help you process all of the new feelings you're starting to feel.

Support groups are helpful as the people in these groups know exactly how you're feeling because they've been in the same place. Support groups permit you to open up about the struggles that you are facing. Along with your emotional health, your physical health should be considered also. Making the choice to not over-eat is not as simple as it may appear.

You need to substitute overeating with a new food plan. One of the best food plans to use is the non-diet approach to weightloss. This food plan allows you to lose weight in a natural and healthy way. You will be able to swap from overeating to a more healthy way of eating. Being physically healthy is a crucial part of recovering from an eating disorder.

Being healthy helps you become physically well. When you are physically well, you are better able to deal with the struggles that may come up. Getting over an eating disorder is a journey that will be the best call you ever made in the end. There will be struggles on the way. These will become simpler when you make sure your emotional and physical health are looked after. You're the most critical part of your journey.

To start dispelling this parable, we must first have a look at what self-control is and why you think it'll help you to lose the weight. We are able to also start to gain a sense of control of our negative feelings by learning that discipline does not affect our weight. You can begin to lose inches naturally when you begin to believe that dieting and discipline aren't the answers. Let's rap a touch about the dictionary definition of willpower.

Many folks accept that will power is the power to control your actions. With reference to dieting, many individuals accept that you need to will yourself to get up from the television and workout. If you don't have self-control, then you won't lose pounds. This parable is not true for anyone who is attempting to get rid of the weight, especially people who've splurge eating disorder. If you have a disposition to overeat, the will power myth might have been developed thru years of dieting, losing pounds, binging and recovering the weight. You will have told yourself that you'll have more self-control next time, simply to over-eat again.

You have self-control. Look at all that you have achieved thru the employment of will power. Nevertheless your weight wasn't put on by ready yourself to eat. Your weight was put on due to emotional events which caused you to develop an unhealthy relationship with food. When there's an emotional tie to eating and losing weight, it isn't a straightforward matter of prepared yourself to attain your goals.

In such cases, you want to repair the relationship between food and you. Weight control becomes more about improving yourself from the interior out. Dieting cannot be done through discipline if your eating is reliant on emotions.

Has every diet you attempted ended in failure? Has that led you to believe that you have failed? This emotional cycle will continue till you choose to repair the relationship you have with food. This can be done by employing a non-diet approach to weight management. This approach can help you lose pounds in a natural and healthy way. It is superb for folk with splurge eating disorder as it is focused on a healthy relationship with food.

Psychological therapist Doctor. Carol Francis explores more causes and cures of eating aberrations. In her interview with Psychotherapist Darlene Manick, owner of Safe Harbor which is an Eating Disorder Clinic in the LA, California area. Doctor. Carol Francis explores bulimia, anorexia nervosa, splurge and purge cycles and their various dangers and remedies with director, Darlene Manick. Women that face the holiday parties and high calorie treats of Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and company parties, need to develop an ordinary relationship with food. “Food at parties does not mean you have got to eat what's there.

More often than not, the fun is in the chats, dances, music, good cheer at the gala. But when ladies have developed a clumsy intense focus upon what they cannot eat, their unconscious mind starts to focus on what they are losing out on as if they're really being deprived,” Dr. Carol Francis advocates.

Dr . Carol Francis, who is a Clinical Therapist as well as a Authorized Medical Hypnotherapist explains, “Eating may have a ton to do with hunger and nutritive needs under standard circumstances. During vacations but food represents heat, sweet indulgences, opportunity, and entertaining flavors.

Our subconscious is schooled to believe that we are going to be missing-out if we miss the chance to eat those treats. Naturally that's a total lie. LIkely those foods should be available at any point of the year and we could enjoy them in moderation later or take an agreeable nibble at the parties. So enjoy the people and your emotional connections with the activities and eat food without feeling you've got to have them.” Dr . Carol Francis debates these issues more in her book, “If You Can Not Stop Eating, Maybe You're Hungry : Reset Your Cravings.” press release for free You can order this helpful book at DrCarolFrancis or at the link above.

Dr . Darlene Manick offers great guidance in this interview about catching yourself in the predicament of eating disorders fast and returning to the delights of taking care of your health .

I read an article the other day that truly recounted, “Anorexia is about what she sees in the mirror.” I wanted to scream! I'm not saying that an eating disorder has zip to do with what girls see in the mirror. But for somebody to make a convincing statement like that implies this is ALL anorexia is about. It is deceiving and authored by someone who doesn't understand eating abnormalities. I can't state firmly enough, anorexia and bulimia is not just about what she sees in the mirror. This belief is partly why folks do not have empathy or enough compassion for those with eating disorders.

They think it's the “vanity” disorder. It is not. An eating disorder is a complex mental disorder. There are multiple things that make a contribution to the development of anorexia or bulimia. Research is showing there is a important biological component in the development of eating defects. Many girls have mums, siblings, aunts or cousins that have or had eating defects.

There is so much online and you've got to be careful what you suspect. I can not stress enough to analyze several sources to ensure the info you are getting is accurate. One of the most significant reasons you need accurate info is you are going to share with your kid what you learn.

Imagine enlightening her that she is just vain and this eating disorder is her fault. How will that make her feel? It isn't only wrong, it is wicked. Now imagine being able to tell her this ED is no one’s fault. There are biological issues, temperament and character that she was born with that prejudice her to this illness. That doesn't mean she will not do something about it, it just means it's not her fault she is sick. Imagine the difference in how she would feel and her attitude towards recovery when she's got the right information, delivered with compassion and understanding. It will make all the difference in the world and it will reinforce your relationship because you understand what's really going on. She is blaming herself and she has to know it's not her fault.

Make sure you tell her. It will help.

Are you battling with your self-confidence? As a teenager you can struggle with getting solid grades, making friends, starting to date and pleasing your parents. Many times the demands of being a “perfect” teen can be difficult. When you permit these attempts to get the very best of you, low self-esteem could be the result.

A low self-image not only impacts how you have interaction with others, but also how you engage with food. Sadly, some youths develop an eating disorder. Have a look at this example.

You are having one of those days where nothing appears to be going right. You failed your geometry test. After class, your lover expounded that he would have liked to just be friends. To finish it off, you get in difficulty for having a sloppy room. This is the point where a negative relationship with food may begin.

Feeling hopeless and unloved, you turn to the number one thing that you're feeling is always there for you, food. While eating a big quantity of food you begin to feel a feeling of relief. This sort of behavior is a tell-tale sign that you have got an eating disorder. What occurs after that? You may start to feel sorry about the negative relationship that you have with food. You may begin to feel that your weight or your looks are leading you to be rejected by your peers or your folks. You might even go into a perfectionist mode and attempt an extreme diet. You may think this is the sole way you can feel loved.

You begin to develop negative thought patterns about becoming successful thru weight loss. This could continue until the next time you're feeling beat down and again turn to food. The cycle of binge eating and dieting is extremely commonplace in kids with eating disorders. The teen years can be a very tough time, and you may base your self-worth on the thoughts and actions of others. If you diet you can become obsessed with your weight and overall appearance. You'll start to feel that you can only become successful if you are skinny and go to extreme measures to be certain this happens.

However, most diets fail! When this happens you can start to develop unproductive thought patterns about your abilities. If you are a teen with an eating disorder, you can start to recover control over your life by ending your diet. The steps to regaining control of your life are easy. If you are a teen with an eating disorder, you can attain a healthy relationship with food. First, stop dieting. Then you need to change your destructive thought patterns.

You need to develop strategies such as relaxing with friends, listening to music and taking part in other activities you enjoy when you're nearly convinced to eat for emotional reasons. Your body will let you know when it is full and when it is hungry. Hear it and permit it to be your guide to eating. If you have got an eating disorder, you can start to develop a healthy relationship with food. The negative cycle can stop when you begin loving yourself and allow somebody you trust to help you thru the method.
